Asparagus Community Theatre (ACT) invites you in…. to the world of Old Time Radio this Halloween season. Join us for a live, dramatized recording of Bram Stoker’s Dracula, performed by ACT actors, musicians and foley artists.
This version of Dracula first aired on CBC’s Stage 49 program in 1949 and was dramatized by the late George Salverson, a prolific Canadian playwright, documentarian and broadcaster. It starred, among others, Lorne Green and Lister Sinclair.
ACT’s 2016 performance is directed by Phelan Gotto and features Mandy Penner, Brodie Muskett, Michael Thomas, Jennifer Blake, Risa Bissenden, Jim Ferguson, Ryan Murphy, Jeunesse Pearson and Mark Trussell. Pianist Cameron Shook andViolinist Roman Blain provide the chilling score with live foley effects by Maryke Simmonds and the cast.
This event is a joint fundraiser with Salmon Arm community radio station, Voice of the Shuswap (CKVS) and is partially funded by a grant from the Community Radio Fund of Canada. CKVS will be recording each performance for an edited re-broadcast at a later date.
All ages are welcome and Halloween costumes are encouraged. There will be door prizes, goodies, prize for best costume and ACT memberships available to purchase.
Admission is by donation; $10 is suggested.
“Count” yourself in and help support ACT as we launch our 35th Season!
